Kerfoot Group – supplies bulk refined edible and technical oils to the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, aromatherapy and food industries.
Kerfoot Group has been supplied with a barcoded tagging system for capturing data used for identifying and tracking batches of oil. Using a Ritchey ID bar code reader, staff can identify the previous contents of the container, and access information about non-compatible substances to prevent cross-contamination.
It is essential to correctly identify the contents of independent bulk carriers, to prevent cross-contamination. Kerfoot Group is required to adopt a scrupulous cleaning regime using harsh corrosive cleaners.
John Thompson of Kerfoot says the Ritchey ID tags are ideal for use in a challenging environment.
“Barcodes enable us to track the movement of oil carried in our IBCs around the country and between depots much more accurately and efficiently than a paper-based system. As food manufacturers, we are subject to the scrutiny of various authorities. We have to implement a scrupulous cleaning regime that has even been known to rot neoprene Wellington boots. Tags are assigned to a particular piece of equipment, remaining with it for its lifespan and subject to the same corrosive cleaning regime. We have found the performance of Ritchey ID’s tags to be unequalled, as they can survive this treatment and still maintain full integrity of information”.
